I'm new here, just found this site. I just ran all the wires for my stereo (MTX amp, Pioneer head unit) and was going to hook up my deck. I checked the wiring diagram out for my car (99 VW Jetta), RED / White - constant power..Brown - ground...Yellow/Red - switched power. For my deck its Yellow - power .. Black - ground ... Blue/White - remote to amps. Seems easy enough, but I'm getting no power to the deck no matter what I try. No fuses are blown .. What should I try ??
ummmm........sounds like you hardwired the deck in...why??? always use a hanress if it's available....makes life a lot easier...anyhow...........
I'd compare the codes to what I got, but DEI isn't giving me the radio codes...so I'll just tell you what they are in case you need to run new wires...remember these are in the ignition harness!!!
red = 12V constant
ignition = black
accessory = BLACK/ red
First off....did you hook up both the red wire ( turn on: hooks up to ignition and/or accessory ) and yellow wire ( memory: hooks up to 12V constant ) from the deck? I know it sounds stupid but sometimes we forget the little things like that...I know I still do ffrom time to time when I get slammed in the bay....Both of these wires needs to be hooked up in order for the deck to function at all!!!
Second are you sure that the factory ground is good...Try a different ground...there are usually a couple of screws or bolts under the dash that are good for this purpose...
Third re-check all your connections...if you used crimp connections, pull on them to see if any wires pull out...if they do, re-crimp them with a good pair of Klein crimpers...better yet solder them like we're supposed to!!! Oh yeah and use new barrel connectors...
Fourth....get a harness and a kit and use the wiring harness...Note: If you cut off the Factory harness...put it back in....BUT SOLDER THE CONNECTIONS, HEAT SHRINK THEM AND TAPE THEM!!!!!! there are no excpetions on this one...it is factory and you want it to look that way....Metra Harness # 70-1784, Metra Dash Kit # 99-9123, and Metra Antenna Adapter # 40-VW53......
If that doesn't work recheck the fuses...use a DMM to be sure none are blown ( I've had it happen, thought they were all good, went through the car like ten times, still no go....finally I used a DMM to test all the fuses and sure enough one was blown...Just enough so I couldn't see it with my eyes...it sucked!! )
If that doesn't work, bring the deck in and have it tested...the deck might be messed up...if they get it to work....than you gotta run new wires to the dash...use the wire codes I gave you above...BUT MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK WITH A DMM!!!! use one of the bolts under the dash for a ground.....
Hope this helped

Spetz...
Try getting an aftermarket wiring harness kit. Not only will it preserve your factory wiring , but it will take all the guesswork out of the install... They commonly run for $8-12 U.S. depending on the vehicle. If you dont want to do that, get you a VOM (Volt-Ohm Meter) or DMM (Digital Multimeter). This is going to be more expensive than a wiring harness so its somewhat pointless in your case.
