Compatability question/System question

You can't get 2 ohms from your existing driver compliment. You have four 4 ohm voice coils which will only give you a 1 ohm, 4 ohm, or 16 ohm load... Sorry... I think that even at 750 watts you are going to have PLENTY of power for two 4212 subz... they are only rated 400 watts each... for a total of 800 watts, a very close match. Go with what you have right now... I think you'll be happy.

As to the alternator question... the answer will depend on what type of car you have... Whatcha got right now? In any event, the alternator can almost always be upgraded to a higher current output model whenever you are upgrading your existing audio system... Do you HAVE to? Not always. CAN you? Most definitely. Should you? It will NEVER hurt...

Thanks man appreciate the feedback......I have a 2000 Olds Intrigue everything under the hood is stock....tha reason I asked about that is cause I upgraded from a Kenwood KAC-520 amp and that ran fine but when I put in tha Rockford it seems like the current draw is too high cause when I turn my radio up past like 18 tha amp cuts off like how my kenwood did when it over heated except I have to turn my source to standby and back to CD to get tha bump back.  But it cant be overheatin cause it will do it after like 2 mins if I turn it up loud enough.  I have 4 gauge from the battery on both amps.

Yep... Sounds like you could probably use a bigger alternator. Don't know exactly how big the stocker is on that car, (probably around 65-75 amps) but if you have had pretty much the same thing happen with two amps, then would start investgating the power delivery system. www.4alterstart.com has good prices, and will offer a chrome finish, if you want it. On most of their alternators, you can get a standard one year warranty, or for a bit more, you can order the lifer... with upgraded bearings and diode assemblies. Looks like you can get that in 125A off the shelf, or a special order 180A. Their part number on the 125A is 1-2199-01DR. I expect the 180A will cost around 300 bux, but I recommend the biggest one you can get. I bought a 165A for my '01 Civic, (from the stock 55A) and I have had excellent results with it. My sub amp (Eclipse DA7122 4000 watt digital) has never shut off ONCE since I put it in, even with the AC and headlights running! I also ordered one for another guy here in Bakersfield for his '00 Civic Si, and his is working like a champ as well... Good products, and fast, too! Be sure you DO NOT use the stock charging cable when you install it... You will have to use AT LEAST a #4 (for the 125A), and I would recommend a #2 (for the 180A), and whatever you use for your charging cable, be sure to make an equal size ground setup, from the battery to the chassis AND from the chassis to the engine...
