I have 2 15w6 JL audio subs that are being powered by a Rockford Fosgate POWER 1001bd mono amp. When I turn it up, The speakers pop at heavy bass lines, Could it be my gain is too high? because when I turn it down, My woofers dont seem to really hit hard, and Ive heard other people with these woffers hit hard as hell, I know they are quality subs, And Fosgates amps are not as good as they used to be, but this is almost 1100 watts! Is there someway to stop this popping or something I can do to my subs to restore them, or make them last longer?

Will a different brand amp give them better or different bass?

If they are popping yours gains are too high, how are these subs wired to the amp?

The amp is only one channel, already bridged from the factory

or your box is the wrong size...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

You have your sub wired right it sounds like. I think you need to adjust your gain like forbidden said. Also is it in a sealed or ported enclosure and how big is the box.

If you're still getting a poping noise go to a local shop you trust and ask them to see if your gain is set right.

your speakers are bottoming out because your gains are too high, when you hit a low bass note they are excurting to far and the voice coil is leaving the magnet and hitting on the bumper plate when it goes back it, turn down the gains, for more bass build a ported box
