Subject: what are some good 10" subs?

ok, I just recently bought a 94 gmc sierra ext cab 4X4, wanting to put a good set of 10 inch subs under the rear seat, I have a set of kicker cvr 12's that I had in my camaro with a kicker 800x2 amp, they sounded awesome, hit hard and everything, well I want my truck to be the same, but I need suggestions on the subs, what are some good subs, I will using my kicker amp to power them, also I need to know of some good 4X6 speakers because all the factory openings are 4X6 I will be getting a 4 channel amp to run them once I figure out what speakers to get, any suggestions would be appreciated, i want my highs and mids to stand out also, so come on lets build one nice system!

im not sure of the specs but JL w3v2 10's would be good, (u may get flamed if u want them though, cuz you pay for quality) L7 10 inch kicker also.

two W3v2s would be a good choice. The next step up would be some eclipse alluminums.

Yes, yes, Eclipse aluminums in a custom box slam in this truck. But I don't know what I'm talking about, it is too early in the morning for me on a day off.

The Eclipse Aluminums are some awesome subs and defiantly at the top of my list. But before I make any suggestions what kind of music do you listen to and what kind of sound do you want. Also what is your budget?

some guy sent me a pm and said he had the 10's I was looking for, he wants to sell me a set of volfenhags, but anyways I like the look of the aluminums, but also seen the titanium, are these better yet? I listen to rock and some country sometimes, mostly def leppard, poison, kizz, things like that, Im not really on a budget, so that dont really matter, did anyone have any ideas as for the mids and highs, I want these kinda loud

I've seen 2 sets of volfenz, they sound good but building a box that wont destroy them is next to impossible. I witnessed one of the sets self destruct posted_image and it isn't worth wasting money. I've have to agree about the eclipses. As for your mids and highs, looking into getting a set of MB-Quart 6.5 componets with 1" tweeters. These are increaibly clear and loud, their a little pricy but if you want quality, thats the way to go (dont waste money on some crappy componet set off ebay). Good luck.

A set of MB Quart 4" reference components up front, 4" reference coaxs in back, and 2 10" eclipse aluminums would be sweet.

Just to clarify, they didn't break due to "underpower."  They broke because of amplifier clipping or from being in the wrong enclosure.  "Underpower" does not break subs, improper system setup breaks subs.

I was sub shopping yesterday for a new 12.  I listened to a new Alpine Type R 10 in a factory built bandpass box.  They were powering it w/ an Alpine V-series mono sub amp(the little one that says 700W on it for $199).  I was amazed w the bass coming from yhis single 10.  Although it was a bandpass box, it sounded clean.  I'm now considering a Type R 12 for my bass fix.

i got a pair of kicker compVR 10's each one with just .96ft3 sealed.  the absolutely are some of the best sounding and hardest hitting subs i have ever owned.  i also have a pair of comp 12's, the 10's blow them away.  i had them on the same amp in boxes built to optimum air space and although the 12's sounded good, the 10's are phenominal, plus the fact that they don't take up hardly any room in my trunk, most people think i have a pair of 15's.  although i am pushing about 500 watts per sub,

eclipse is a very good brand, i used to sell them, but they are a bit pricey.  don't even think about a titanium under the seat in your truck. you have no where near enough room, the are a very deep sub, the mounting depth is almost 9".  you only have around 9" total under the seat, then you have to subtract wood thickness and ground clearance.  the comp vr10 has a mounting depth of about 5 1/2". trust me go with kicker

Crossfire db' s and MTX 8000s have always been good choices and are now available cheaper since they have been out for a while.

so what do you guys think of the Mtx 8000's? should I get single or dual coil? my amp is a Kicker 800.2, do these subs give you good clean, hard hitting bass?

Hey just my opinion, i would go with the Power Acoustik FUBR-10 those are some great subs, now i don't know what kind of car you are putting them in, but i know they sound da** good in an explore and a ford mustang hatch! in a sloted port box!

these subs, are 600 watts RMS, wich means you need a good amp to push them, i have not even heard them pushed to the max, because the amp that was pushing them could not really handle them (that amp was the Power Acoustik 1600 w/ Gothic series) pretty good amp, but yeah not enough to push 2 of them subs, not even quit at rms level, but i also no eclips are awsome as well! so i guess it is your opion just had to put in my 2cents!

Just wanted to set the record straight.  I wasn't trying to say I thought they were the best.  I just wanted to see eveyones reaction with a little plug.  Since then, I have stopped carrying them.  I have now picked up Orion.  I used to compete with Orion Team Extreme, and I know they are good quality.  Sorry to have offended anyone.  I know now that I never should have picked them up.  I strive to carry only the best lines, but sometimes we all make mistakes.

I think that Image Dynamics makes a heck of a sub as well, at least their MAX series
