With my current sound set up, i have a custom box thatll only fit 1 12, i cant get anymore into a custom enclosure how i want it... the box is designed like this   [_<>__O_] .. lol, with the amp on the left and then sub on the right. I have a 400 watt rms  AB amp to a 400 rms HE@ dual 2 ohm. Does anyone have any suggestions on a subwoofer that would operate louder with this same amp (Fosgate Punch 401s, 400rms at 4 ohms), with about a 1.25 cuft enclosure? Im tryign to keep in the $100-150 US range, internet prices that is.

Whatever dude.

Do you think I will get more SPL out of the type-r as opposed to my HE2 which is damn near pure SQ(not a complaint, i love my HE2, i just need some balance)

the type r and the infinity kappa perfect's are both a very nice sub for a balanced system very cleanly balance sq and spl.

first off I got news for ya, the HE2 is not a pure sq sub. I sell them and I know for a fact that they arent pure sq. I have very little experience with the typer's, only a couple of systems, so I wont comment on them. However I have used the perfects and they sound amazing and hit super hard. I would buy the perfect over the HE2 at the drop of a hat

the problem is with a shiva they are single 8 ohms and he needs peak performance at 4, so the shiva actually would not be a good decision for his single 12" enclosure, id go with a single 4 ohm 12.1 kappa perfect in my opinion

If you can find one online at that price range, get a Diamond Audio M6 12.  You will be happy with it.  It has a good medium between SQ and SPL.  Also, I have an OZ Matrix 12" sub, it is used, but in perfect condition for $150.

Heres some info

"7/12/02

Well the MTX demo van showed up at work yesterday for the Future Shop SPL comp, which will be held tomorrow. Although I'm not entering the contest myself, I had my car unofficially metered with an Audio Control RTA to see what she could do. I hit a 137.2 first time around, and then a 138 even, with the rear seat folded down. The mic was placed on the dash in the far right corner, and for both runs I just used a pre-burnt sine sweep from about 15-80Hz. I was actually surprised at those numbers since I didn't expect to break 130 at all, especially with a sealed box and a 15-year-old Celebrity. The MTX rep estimated I would hit about 125. :) Suffice to say, he didn't think the Shivas could hit that hard, and neither did I."
