I have a 99 sebring conv. with the infinity sound system. I'm trying to install a Nakamichi CD45Z cd player. The problem is, when the system is hooked up using an off the shelf harness, the CD player doesn't play thru the car's speakers. The radio works OK but the cd doesn't. If I hook an external speaker to the speaker wiring, there is sound, but not thru the system. Any guesses as to what might be going on?

Hi robvdo, where you have the power antenna lead from the head unit connected to the off the shelf harness (most likely a blue wire), remove it and connect the remote turn on lead from the head unit in it's place. What's happening is the radio is only supplying power to turn on your amplifier when the tuner is on, when you switch to CD, power on this lead is turned off. If you use the remote turn on lead instead of the power antenna lead, power will remain on the amplifier's turn on lead and will not switch off when you switch to CD.

Verify all wiring with your meter before making any connections!
