OK-I've been shopping for a new 12 for a week now and here's what I'm considering. (in case you didn't read my earlier post-I'm looking for a 12 w/ equal SQ and SPL, approx $130, about 5-6oo RMS/6-800 peak, and duel 2 ohm VC or single 4ohm). 1. Kicker Solobaric L5 , Kicker CVR, Alpine Type R or S, Visionik V12, Or Pheonix Gold. I found Solobarics for 120$ online, they are probably my strongest choice so far but would love to get some more input. Oh yeah-where can I find Adire subs? I've been hearing a lot about them lately-are they any good?

Are the Shivas only available in 8 ohm DVC? They don't look like anything special, kinda cheap even. I know not to judge a book by it's cover-but are these quality, good sounding subs? Could I get some opinions on the Kicker Solobaric L5 12's and their lesser cousin the Comp VR 12". A local retailer has the L5s on sale right now for $160, I'm very interested in them.

Kicker subs aren't going to give you much SQ, but they do ok with SPL. I would definitely consider the shiva.

Ditto to customesuburb. Kicker subs are great for SPL but not so great for SQ. Adire is a godd compromise between the two, as is Infinity Kappa Perfect, or Image Dymanics ID line (not the ID Max, these are pure SPL oriented) or Cadence. ------------- Support the12volt.com

Price range for the Image Dynamics? Ok here's what I'm trying to do. I want a balance between SPL and SQ and will spend up to $150 for 1 12". Right now i have a 600 W,2 Ch(2 ohm stereo) Lanzar amp to power subs(yeah Lanzar-hold your giggles!). I plan on upgrading my entire system in the near future, including a decent mono sub amp. I want a sub that will work in both applications--- Now w/ moderate power from cheapo amp, and w/. more serious power from better amp.

IDQ series is a little over your target, as they tend to run closer to $200 for a 12". Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 is available for right around $150. Cadence subs are also generally over $200, sorry. Take a look at the Alpine Type R (SWR-1241 or 1221) which can be found for less than $150, or maybe a Phoenix Gold Octane R12D. ------------- Support the12volt.com

How bout' Pheonix Gold Tantrum? I just returned from sub shopping and liked their, look, and price($160). It's a single 4 ohm VC, 350 W RMS/700 W peak. I'm only concerned that the amp I'm using now (Lanzar Vibe 600W, 2 Ch, 2 ohm stereo), won't cut it. I'm planning an amp upgrade soon, but need to work with what I have for now. However, I want to get a sub that will respond to a bigger, cleaner amp when I do get one. As always Thanks for ALL input---Alex
