I am looking to try to find a wiring diagram for this radio. Or someone who can tell me what the different wires are. I have figured out all the wires but 4 of them. It is a 6 speaker wire radio and I am used to an 8 speaker wire. Please help.
I have four that I don't know about:
- One blue with a white strip (says AMP REM MAX 0.3A)
- One blue (plain) (says ANT REM MAX 0.1A)
- One is orange with a white strip
- One is grey
Thanks

- One blue with a white strip (says AMP REM MAX 0.3A) This is your remote turn on lead for the amplifier
- One blue (plain) (says ANT REM MAX 0.1A) This is for your power antenna ( if you have one )
- One is orange with a white strip This is for your dimmer switch connection
- One is grey This is normally for your front right (+) speaker connection
Thanks

Do you happen to have the wiring diagram or know where I can find it online? We are missing a clip off the radio (that holds the face plate on) do you know where I can order those kinds of parts? Also If the grey wire is the right front speaker wire then shouldn't it have a matching set (should this be an 8 speaker wire set)? Thanks for your help!
I am not familiar with Sony but there should be 8 wires for the speaker connections ( unless it's only a controller HU ). Go to this site and they sell Sony parts : https://www.pacparts.com/scripts/SelManuf.cfm?id=GUEST&name=GUEST&Cfid=264664&CFTOKEN=87090308

Thanks Jeff. If anyone else knows where to get a wiring diagram please let me know.
There are 8 speaker wires. If you are talking about the standard 16-Pin modern Sony harness, someone just asked me the same question in an email recently and here is the answer...
Anyhow, here is the wiring info you need... It is IMPORTANT that you
understand the POINT OF VIEW, though. This is the wire configuration
looking direcly at the unit FROM BEHIND IT with it right side up. I will
give the wire info out for the TOP row first LEFT to RIGHT and then the
BOTTOM ROW of pins. Again this is looking at the unit from BEHIND "head
on". THE FUSE WILL BE AT THE "BOTTOM" of the harness from the point of view
I am giving you.
TOP ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT:
1 - Left Front Speaker +
2 - Left Rear Speaker +
3 - Right Rear Speaker +
4 - Right Front Speaker +
5 - AMP REMOTE (Dark Blue w/white stripe)
6 - ANTENNA REMOTE (Dark Blue) ONLY ACTIVE WHEN TUNER IS BEING USED
7 - Accessory Power (RED) Connect to SWITCHED IGNITION +12V
8 - GROUND (Black)
BOTTOM ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT:
1 - Left Front Speaker -
2 - Left Rear Speaker -
3 - Right Rear Speaker -
4 - Right Front Speaker -
5 - Cell Phone Mute INPUT (Light Blue) NOT ALL HUs
6 - Illumination/Dimmer Wire (Orange) Connect to vehicle dimmer or park lamp
circuit.
7 - NOT CONNECTED ON MY HARNESS
8 - +12V Power (Yellow) Connect to CONSTANT +12V supply
Looking at the above you will see that one "half" of the harness (the LEFT
HALF top&bottom) is dedicated to speaker wires, the top being + and the
bottom being -. The right half is the power and remote conections.
You might still be best off using a Sony harness which is widely available
on eBay for about $10 or so. However that is the wire configuration if you
think you can connect it without a harness or with a different harness.
Some HUs don't have some wires, some have
separate antenna and amp remote wires (that way the antenna would only raise when the TUNER was on, not the CD as well) but some don't. I think yours would being a high end model.
Some of them also don't have the cell-phone mute input or not (which no one really uses anyhow), particularly the low-end models and perhaps some of the late models like yours (eventhough it is a high level model).
Good luck!
