Mainly I am going for the 23 rms outputs for my door speakers, and the MP3 playback. It looks like it has an equalizer of sorts, and it has a low pass filter for the amp/subs. Thoughts? (especially to those who read my previous thread)

Also, what is the deal about if you get an aftermarket deck the radio won't work anymore? I listen to cd's almost exclusively so that does not bother me too much, just trying to see if there is a way around that.

Furthermore, what would you say the chances are the cd changer controls on a deck such as this would be compatible with the POS jensen changer that came with my car from previous owner, it is currently wired through the factory deck and the radio antenna

thanks again

sony decks generally sound ok but have a shorter life span than other decks. Also most of them seem to have a problem with skipping more than other decks. Now with the being said the skipping problem has been getting better every year that the xplod line has been out.

Please look in the trash can for my comments about Sony, make sure to carefully open the lid and do not allow any of the Bose or Sony equipment to make a break for it.

i'm with forbidden. i've installed proffessionally for 5 years now and sony is one of the worst decks i have ever installed, next to roadgear that is. only my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

i'm gonna have to jump onto this stomping sony bandwagon.....i've been installing for over 10 years now and i've tended to notice more problems amongst sony decks that require warranty service than most other conventional brands. or maybe i'm just that unlucky?! there's been times that i'd play some cd's that i know are not perfectly skip-free on my sony deck, and they will indeed skip consistently on the same spots. and yet, i pop that same cd into another deck, and the skipping goes away!

do they skip just driving down the highway, or you going offroad or something????

better yet, do they skip sitting in a parking lot?

i had a sony deck, and it would sometimes take 3-4 tryes to load the cd, , it only accepted half of my cd collection.

Go with an Eclipse or an Alpine and you will be much more pleased.  Even the cheepest of the 2 brands will impress the heck out of you with years of trouble free performance.

Ok, Here's my 2 cents.

I've run into the same problems with all the sony decks I've had. The skipping is the most common problem. I had one that would ONLY read burned cd's so even when I actually went out and bought someone's new cd....i had to burn a copy to play it in the car. And when it was time to eject the cd, I had to hit the dash for that to happen. Their TV's suck too!!! Spend the extra money and get a Eclipse or Alpine. Either one will last alot longer. Even clarion or sanyo (yeah...sanyo) head units last longer than sony.

I have had a cheezy sony deck for the last two years and they are ok if you can deal with the skipping and the non ejecting disk problems. Oh yeah there is a problem with the text on the screens getting garbled too... and the sound quality sucks as well (turn it up past half way and you get very bad distorsion). I am getting an alpine deck very soon. Sony sucks. Oh yeah dont buy their subwoofers, they rate them funny (300 watts rms sony = 150 rms everyone else), plus they sound like sh*t. I tested out a pair of the five sided subs in my jeep A couple of weeks before they were sold to the public (they were on display in a local car audio place)with my alpine mrd-m500 amp 500w rms @2ohms, and i was maxing out the sub with my volume only at half way!!!. my bass boost on my amp was at only at +6db and my gain was set correctly. needless to say that i didn't buy those subs!!!
sorry about my anti sony rant, but my experience with sony has been nothing but bad.
