In helping to narrow down my search for a loud but clean 12, I recently listened to a Pheonix Gold Tantrum 12 at a local shop. It seemed to have a balance between SQ and SPL, which is what I'm looking for. It 4 ohm, SVC, 350RMS/700 max, and in my price range($150ish). It was in a ported PG box so it really hit hard while sounding clean. What does everyone else think? I have NO experience w/ PG subs, are they a good choice? I also like the Kicker CVR, Alpine Type R, and Adire Shiva. What do you boys think?

I like PG for a decent sounding low-priced sub. I used to use their Octane R series quite a bit. If you liked the sound of the one you listened to, then go for it. They compare nicely to the others you listed, although if it was ME buying for myself, of the four you list I'd go with the Alpine as choice 1, Shiva as 2 and PG as three. But that's me. There are a lot of other choices in this price range as well. Go for what sounds good to you! ------------- Support the12volt.com

Hmmmmmm, decisions, decisions. I think it's between the Type R and the PG. I'd love to hear a Shiva, but no one carries them around here (Fairfield,CT). I know I can get them online, but need to hear one 1st! Thanks for the feedback.
