so the box has some ports on the back/side for the wire i assume

now, does this mean one runs the rca speaker wire from the back of the sub, to the terminal, then from there to the amp, or is that just a little hole for the wire to go back to the amp directly?

and is 16g wire ok for this, what gauge is best for the speaker wires?

16 awg is fine, the RCA's run to the amp, then the speaker wire runs to the terminals on the sub from the amp.

sorry, mixed up my wording

what i am trying to ask is do the speaker wires go to the terminals on the box and then another wire goes from there to the sub itself, or is the terminal just a hole in the board?

The speaker wire from the amp connects to the terminals on the enclosure.  Inside the enclosure there are more speaker wires to connect from the loudspeaker's voice coil(s) to the other side of the terminals.  The "holes" are called ports and are NOT for running wire through.  Is this what you need?

just hook the speeker wire up from the amp on the output(s). run them to the terminals on the box, than run wire from the inside of the terminal to the speeker(s). now i can not say reather 16ga wire is good enough to use or not, cause i don't know what subs you are pushing and or what amp you are using!.
the other wholes like said above are used for "Ports". now if you are using a box with ports never exced the maximum wattage for them subs for they are easyer to blow with a ported box.
