I have a 4 channel RF 501x it says that it is 125wats x4 @ 2homs. if this true should there be a noticeable increase in output when 4-4ohm speakers connected in parallel?

the way i understand this is that each speaker is receiving 125 wats and not 65 wats correct?

so the sound should be louder

why would you connect them in parallel? if you connect all 4 in parallel to 1 channel, you would be presenting a 1 ohm load. I don't understand what you are trying to do. I would just connect each speaker to each channel.

If you connect 2 speakers in parallel to make a 2 ohm load, you would be presenting 125 watts to the pair of speakers, which is the same as the 62.5 watts each speaker should recieve if you connected each speaker to it's own channel.

I'm adding more speakers 2 to the front left, 2 to the front right and later 2 to the rear right  and 2 to the rear left.

so each channel will have 2 speakers, 4channel amp @ 2ohms 125 wats rms

I hooked up the front speakers in parallel but didn't hear a noticble increase, i was told by a tech friend that each speaker would be receiving 125 wats and not 62.5

not true... the total output for each channel will be divided between the speakers on the channel. so the 125 watts is for both speakers, or 62.5 each.

If you connected two speakers to each channel then they would each receive 62.5 watts. Wire them like this for parallel:
