I have a CD/ MP3 player which I bought in America. Will it operate correctly on a Volkswagen in England? I think that the wiring has different colours, but that's not a problem. Are there any differences in Voltage, Amperage or Resistance between the two countries? I know there's a difference in house hold voltage, but I'm not sure about in the car. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I think it should be fine. My father (who lives in California USA) drives a 1967 Ford Anglia 105E (and yes it's right hand drive) that he brought over from england and i installed a Pioneer CD player in it for him. I had to run all new wires to the speakers but it works fine. So you shouldn't have a problem. ------------- Duane...

Cars, in america or in japan, or in england all use 12v batteries. 12v batteries with 12v electrical systems. It will work just fine. Good luck.

It will work fine except for the possibility of incompatable radio frequencies.

oh yea, i forgot about that. Volkswagen in england, meaning, the car is in england and staying there, or a car in america brought here from england? You might have a problem getting am/fm reception out there because if i'm not mistaken they use different radio frequencies out there. but, it'll work! :)

No, it's a car in England staying in England. I hope there isn't a problem. Well, my family just visited me from America, and my brother brought his Discman with an FM radio. I didn't actually listen to it while he was here, but I'm pretty sure he was able to pick up all the stations. I distinctly remember him mentioning that he heard several Rap music stations. But I'm not 100% positive, I'll have to ask him again. Thanks for all of your help.

FM's not a problem, AM steps at 10K here and 9K there, if you've got a selectable tuning stage you'll have no problems at all ------------- Kevin Gerry

Well, I've never listened to AM before, and I doubt I'll start now. So I guess there'll be no problems. Thanks to everyone for their help.
