Who has actually gone through the effort of hooking an oscilloscope to the outputs of all their devices and properly setting the gains to there max before significant distortion occurs?  If so what did you use as a dummy load to do so?  Of course, doing all with a generated pink noise.

There are lots of theories on the best way to do this and many types of large power resisters available for use as a dummy load.  I for one never thught using a purely resistive dummy load results in the best setup, since the impedence of a voice coil varies with frequency input.  I use an actual test speaker, an old 16-ohm Altec Lansing driver from a "Voice of the Theater" loudspeaker system as my "dummy" load.
