Well, if your friend owns the deck, why isn't your friend selling you the wiring harness and plug with the deck?

I think circuit city sells deck harness' you could also try stopping by best buy install bay sometimes they have harnesses laying around, also one from a Sony deck may work but usually the only difference between a jvc and sony harness is the speaker balance is revesed. Or go to bestbuy.com on the main page go to the bottom and there is a part order link,.

It doesn't necessarilly mean it's a stolen deck.

Some people really don't know any better and pull the stereo...get rid of the car....and then try to reinstall the stereo.....whoops...forgot something...!

it happens all the time. As dumb as most thieves are....I think they understand that they have to snab the wiring harness to get the whole $10 for thier crack rocks. I remember when my mother's stereo was stolen....it was a stock 1989 Ford Festieva AM/FM radio.....and even those IDIOTS cut the wires.

If you don't have the plug at all...that really sucks.

here is my trick to finding the pin-out on a device:

look for the three or four isolated pins (usually a bit larger than the others), test for continuity through the case....find the ground..hook up your power, the rest is trail and error. You have to be very good with a soldering iron to accomplish this...or else you're better off paying the $30 for a new plug.
