Hi, I want to fit a stereo to a Nissan Micra (1986) but I'm not sure on the wiring. I've managed to sort out the speaker connections but the stereo needs a 12V Plus, a Ground and 12V memory connection. I've found some wiring uner the dash were the old stereo used to be, but it all appears to be dead. Can these connections be made with a straight run from the battery? I'm at a total loss and would appreciate any help! Thanks. Tony.
yes you can run off the batt. MAKE SURE YOU USE A INLINE FUSE.

Cheers dave, can I join the 12v memory and the 12V plus together? I'm not sure about this memory wire?
Cheers
a head unit needs just a few basic wires to work. you need a 12 constant, ignition, and a ground. now on most decks that would be the yellow, red, and black wires. you asked about wiring it up straight to the battery which is possible but you would have constant power to your deck and run the risk of draining your battery. you should look in your ignition harness and find a wire that is only "hot" when you start your car( it only gets power when your car is started). that would be your igniton(red) wire. for your constant just find another wire that always have 12V, even when your car is not started. then just find a good ground and you now have a working head unit

what!?!?! you want some??
Cheers. One last question please (I know bugger all about electrics). Can the negative terminal on the battery be used as a ground? or is it just a case of running the ground wire to a part of the chasis? I have a direct lead already available from the battery to the dash from both the Pus and Neg terminals.
Thanks again.
just run the ground to the chassis, don't run it to the battery. you run the risk of picking up engine noise like that, plus it's a hell of a lot shorter just to ground it somewhere on the chassis
