Hey guys ... I just installed 2 MTX 421D amplifiers running 2 MTX 6000 12" subs with a 1.5 F capacitor in a 2004 civic. My lights in the car dim everytime the bass hits, and I was wondering if changing to an Optima Red Top will help this problem? I am still using the battery that came with the car. I would also like to stay away from changing the alternator because the car is a lease. Anyway, let me know what you think, thanks!

yes, putting a red top will help significantly, also upgrade all of the grounds, not just the one for your amp but the factory ones too. like the one from the batt\ery to the chassis and from the engine to the chassis, also a good rule of thumb is to use the same size grounds throughout the car, so if you have 4 gauge ground on your amp, use 4 gauge in all the others too.

Batteries and caps can help in some specific situations, but neither will solve the "light dimming" problem. The only thing that can cure the symptoms of your system pulling too much current is upgrading your alternator. If it was me, I would not waste my money on a battery. I would spend it on a high-output alternator. Save the OEM one and replace it when your lease is up. ------------- Support the12volt.com

$200. to 300. depending on where you go. Some of these guys here on the forum will have some links to get one online you might save a few bucks.
