Subject: Radio compatible with aftermarket stereo?
Date Posted: April 18, 2004 at 9:21 PM

I am getting ready to stick a sony deck in my car, and I am wondering if I will still be able to use the radio? Some people have made it sound like it won't work any more and I am wondering if so, why does it not work, and what can I do about it?

Thanks for any help in advance.

the new stereo will have a radio in it , so you wont need the old radio, chuck it out and put the new one in...easy as.

im not sure.. some of the time you need to get an adaptor that changes the size of the stock antenna plug to the standard size.

So, what came first...the reciever or the reception?

If the reciever hasn't recieved the recpeption yet, would it still recieve?

Ahhhh......you guys are killing me!

It was probably one of those IDIOTS that think stock stereo equipment is better quality than aftermarket. Only one of them could've made up some nonsense like that.....

Like ketel said, the worst that can happen is the truck has one of those 'thin' antenna wires. The adapter is about $5 most places and even gives you some extra wire to either get in your way more...or help you install it easier..depending. If it's an X-plode, you might want to re-consider, if you already have it...consider each day a miracle.

what is wrong with sony xplod decks?

everyone keeps hating on them, but I know several people that have them with no problems....

in 15 years of buying sony stuff, i don't think i have yet had a piece of their stuff I have not been happy with, certainly that has broken like yall keep saying, but then I have been content with dvd/vcr/tv gear, not car audio, so far as yet

Keep the stock unit, save your money and take your other half out for a nice dinner, it will be a much better investment than in a Sony cd player.

Sony has some great equipment, sadly car audio is not their strong point at all. Sort of like Bose, no highs, no lows, just Bose.
