alright, my friend wants just a little bit of thump, he was thinkin the mbquart dvc 12 inch, just the little black on one with the mbquart logo. then get a alpine 700 watt max to push it...is this setup reliable for a little bit of thump but nothing major?

Which MB Quart 12"? If it's the DWE 304, that woofer is rated at 350 watts, so a good Alpine amp to match it would be the MRD-M301. This setup (with the Quart is a 1 cuft sealed enclosure) could thump nicely and sound good, too.
