We just picked up a 95 Ford Exploer XLT 4x4 with the JBL sound i have a few questions for you all..

i am curious on the power output of the OEM amps in the JBL premium sound systems in the 1995 explorer.

i plan on doing a full custom install but want somthing a little louder at this point in time..

i would like to either run my single 12" alumapro off the oem amp or hook my amp and sub upto the factory wires (power ground remote) and use a line level converter to gain an clean input for my amp.

what option would be best for a few months

also does anyone have any clean install pics in the back of a 95-98 explorer?

and lastly what is a good 1.5 din deck that fits right and has either tape and cd with changer control or DVD and LCD.

thanks in advance

the best option you have with that is to use line level converter and your amp and sub, BUT, do not, and I repeat, do not use the factory power and ground wiring. run new wires. The factory amp is not very big and doesn't draw much current so the factory wires would not be sufficient to power your amp without problems. Tap the line level converter into the wireharness on the factory amp. (it is located behind the right rear paneling) You will have to pull the whole panel down. It is best to catch the output from the amp for the converter b/c if you tap in before the amp you might now have a strong enough signal going into the converter.

-------------
if its jammed force it - if it breaks in the process it needed to be fixed anyway

do you know or know where i could find out the output rateing of the OEM amp?

i dont wanna run wires yet cause i wanna do all my wires at once..

i might just stay with the OEM sub and amp untill i get my wire in..and the time to do it.

any ideas about a good deck?

i wanna keep my OEM changer or replace it with a DVD changer and dont wanna buy another deck down the road...

1. The output of the factory amps is probobly not more then 8 to 10 watts RMS for each channel on a good day (maybe 12 or 15 RMS to the sub).

2. Any deck from Eclipse or Alpine is good.

3. If you buy an aftermarket deck then you wont be able to control the factory cd changer (if there is one).
