I just installed a amp and sub in my Blazer. Everything works find when the truck is running or with the key in the forward position. However, when the key is in the back position my sub amp does not have power, ... unless you turn on the parking lights.

The wire I tabbed onto at the head unit had swiched power in both key positions until I plugged the dimmer/light switch modulr back in (removed for install).

Do I have to get my swiched power elsewhere?? Any suggestions?

Thanks

W.

You can either just leave it to run with the key in the ON position, or find another 12V wire that is on in ACC position.  Typically the ON position is used for 12V switched.  You may as well leave it like it is.  Don't run it in ACC with the lights on, just run it in the ON position.

I found another little quirk. Although everthing works in the on position, after the truck is running I lose power to the amp unless I turn on the light switch. (headlights and markers function automatically on this Blazer)

A Blazer should have yellow for 12V switched, orange for constant.  Reconnect the power and turn on lead.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Sounds like you caught the wire for your lights and used it as your remote turn on.  Catch the accy wire from main harness.  Orange or brown.

Do it right the first time
