I was wondering if there are any products similar to dynomat but not as expensive. I need to do my hole trunk because i cant stand that sound on the outside when the bass hits. I tried looking at dynomat but was a more then what i was looking to spend.

Is there anything that would work that you could get at a local hardware store like homedepot or something

Start out  with a small amount of Dynamat (or BrownBread).  Start with putting it in the center of the larger expanses of sheet metal.  Get more if and as you need to, and work from the center towards the edges.  You may very well get to the point where the noise isn't irritating anymore and have only covered a small portion of the metal.   I know, that stuff can get very expensive.

cheapest thing i've ever done: Go get a bucket of tar from home depot, they are like 5 bucks a gallon. Roll that stuff all over the floor of the trunk. For the trunk lid, you can use spray cans of automotive undercoat. It makes a difference. For better results, add more. ghetto, i know, but hey, when you're on a tight budget its worth a shot.

If you do want dynomat or brown bread, check out ebay.  Very very cheap compared to retail.  But i have heard that the Grace Ice Shield works great too.

Just some thoughts

i just have a few more questions my trunk really does make alot of noise does this stuff really reduce the noise like it says? And if i were to get the one from homedepot because its way cheaper and it did start falling off couldnt i just buy some kind of glue or adhesive that would hold it up?

ok i really dont know what to do i dont have enough money to get dynomat and those expensive names but i could aford the homedepot stuff probably. If i do get the homedepot stuff do u think it would work at least for a couple of months till i can afford the other stuff?
One more thing when u go to a compition and the see how many db's your subs do does it matter if ur trunk is rattling alot?

my advice just save your money. the home depot stuff falls off. then u will have to keep buying stuff too hold it up. so in the long run u will pay MORE for the cheap stuff. isn't that ironic.  well people at comps. probably have brownbread or something like that so there stuff doesn't rattle. so it probably does matter. but i'm not sure don't take that as gospel.

adhesive-back damping sheets---polymeric mastic sheet are the same thickness as Dynamat. It worked really well for me.

Here is a new trick for you all!!!   Buy Liquid fiberglass from ne store and put it on all surfaces Do about 5 good solid coats and it will be just as good as dynamat!!!!   Trust me!!!  I have done many systems

I bought one sheet at $14.62 and shipping was ten bucks. One sheet is 12 square feet. It arrived in two days since they have 6 warehouses across the nation. If you call or email them with what you want to order they will tell you upfront what the shipping charges will be.
I would advise a heat gun on really curved areas or just lay it out on the cement on a hot day.

ATTn: ftw444, that sounds just as expensive as paying full price for Dynamat.

10 bucks is pretty high for a 10 pound package.  I'll take your suggestion and email them for the ground rate on 3 sheets.  And I'm close enough to the Jersey location.   This stuff is 1/3 to 1/4 the price of Dynamat.

Thanks for the money-saving tip.  I orderered 36 sq ft for $43 plus $11.75 ground UPS.  And got it in 2 days.  Installed most of it today and it works like a charm.  Very happy with this product, price and company.  I would just say that overlapping or double layering needs some spray glue on the backside of the first layer.  Otherwise it has good glue and sticks like Dynamat to sheet metal.

Hey - on your question about the rattling affecting comps.- I was at one a few years ago here (hicksville) and the guy that won had an older, rattley car, and on his final run he had like 10 people sitting on his car to deaden the rattles and he hit almost 2db higher than his previous runs. It can make the difference if your in the final 2 ! I know that all the people on the car wouldn't be allowed at a decent comp., but first prize in this one was a Rockford Fosgate watch and t-shirt! And the winner's top score was something like 148.3 db. Not really comp. quality numbers.
