I am adding a MTX amp to the existing head unit, which has electronic controls. I need to locate a'remote' wire/lead for the amp. The wiring harness just has speaker wires, power and ground. What wire can I hook the remote lead to on the Amp, any suggestions.

No blue wires, the unit is GEM unit in the trunk of the car and there is no power antenna on the car.

Run a remote lead wire up to the dash under the steering wheel.  Just underneath and to the left you should see some wires connected into a connector.  You can take a reading on those without cutting anything, by touching the multimeter + lead to the connection, and the - lead to ground (a nearby floor bolt).  I think the 12V switched might be yellow/black, but my memory is not the best.  Test with the igniton to ON and you'll find 2 wires showing 12 volts.  Turn the key off, and one wire will still have 12V.  Attach to the other wire.  Check with key to ON.  That's your 12V switched to the amp turn-on.  The head unit doesn't have a turn-on, and neither will you find one in the trunk.
