Hey guys.

I want to get a 4 channel amp to run my mids and highs. Currently Im running an mb qaurts component set for my front and I have the stock 6.5's in the back whih I will hopefully some day be replacing with bostons or infinitys. In any case the mb quarts are asking for more power and I need to give it to them. I would like to get at least 300 watts rms out of the amp or 75x4. I want the best bang for the buck as well and thats why Im asking you guys for suggestions.

US Acoustics. They deliver excellent SQ and are probably the most affordable, High Quality amplifier that you can purchase. Got to https://www.usacoustics.com/ and check out their line. I own an older US Acoustics 4050 amplifier and it is rated at 50wrms X 4 at 12V. I have it pushing a pair of MB Quart DKC 169's and JBL GTO635's and they ROCK!

Regards,

Razorbacx

I just got an M1000 and it is very nice.  I plan on getting an F540 in a couple of days when I get paid.

Alpines are awesome Amps but you pay for the quality.  The new Rockford Fosgate amps cost less(notice I didn't say cheaper) and deliver a lot more power for the price.  I'm in the market for a new amp to power a single Alpine Type R 12, after seriously considering the V12, I'm going w the RF.

The new MTX amps are absolute tanks. I just got one and I am super impressed by the build quality. I would suggest them any day of the week

I was looking into buying a used alpine amp off ebay. They have some decent looking amps on there for relatively inexpensive prices. Never owned one myself though. How about the kenwoods?

Hows the kenwood kac-749s look to you guys? I can get it for pretty cheap and relatively new. GOOD or BAD amp?

Kenwood amps are fine for the price. The ones I have sold have been reliable but I have mabye only moved a dozen or so of them so take it for what its worth

I've only owned one Kenwood amp and it definately did not put out the power it claimed.  There are much better affordable amps out there.  Check out U.S. Acoustics, very affordable and decent power.

US acoustics makes good amps that are cheap. I would definitely pick them over anything kenwood.

I just picked up a Kicker 600.4. It is 75x4@ 4 ohms. I only have the gain up 1/3 of the way and it rocks with clean sound. I picked it up for $204.95 plus shipping.

nobody has mentioned Hifonics yet, I am ashamed, so naturally, I will mention them. Hifonics amps are great.
Don't get the eagle line, look at the zeus series, great amps, produce some power and are relatively inexpensive.

Well I looked at Usacoustics and I cant seem to find them anywhere on the ebay website. I have however found some alpine v12 amps and a few kenwoods. The one im looking at is a Kenwood Kac-749s which hasnt been used yet and looks to be in terrefic condition. Given the power it puts out I would probably only run my fronts which are mb quarts dsc216's with it. Depending on whether I get it or not. So far the price on it is $46 bones and at that price I think Id make a good deal???????   <-- thats a question.... posted_image thanks for all the help so far.

Check around in some online stores for US acoustics.  I'm pretty sure that SoundDomain.com or CBR Stereo has them.  I know for certain that Crutchfield carries them-crutchfield.com.  If you realty want the Kenwwod then go for it, I always take my time and comparison shop when buying anything for my car.  Look before you leap!

I used to sell the 550x and I actually just put one in a couple days ago. I think they are a fine amp for the money so if you can get one on a deal its a perfectly fine amp that is gonna drive your speakers fine.

Now yer talkin!  Rf amps, especially the new line are awesome.  They are in a whole other class then the Kenwwood amp you were checking out.  I'm getting either a new Punch P500 or a Power 551S to power a new Alpine R 12.  After doing a lot of research-I'm goin RF!

Be careful when buying used equipment on E-Bay. I bought a used MTX 4 channel amp that I thought was a great deal. Well, I lost out big time. The add said it was in good working condition. I took it to an installer to have it put in my van and he said it didn't even power up. He told me that it would cost at least $100 to get it serviced. I tried to get my money back and was even willing to eat the shipping, but they said the sale is final after 2 days. They don't give you much time to test the equipment. I ate the shipping and $89.00 for the amp. I will probably troubleshoot it when I get some time and an oscilliscope, I have board level troubleshooting experience, I went to DeVry Institute of Technology.

I'd like to hear more about US Acoustics Amps. These seem to be bargain-basement amps, but I notice they rate them @ 12.9V instead of the industry average 14.4V. From what I have seen, doing this means the company is serious about performance. If that's so, how can they get away with selling them so cheap?
How are the internal companents on these amps?

Are these strong recommendations, or "hey, if you're looking in the bargain bin, I would go with these".

I was looking at a 5/6 channels from either JBL ($399)or Planet audio ($479), but could buy 2 Us Acoustics for well under that...

Also, what line from US Acoustics do you recommend?
