i have a 98 durango with the infinity speaker system. the front woofers are blown, and i need replacements. i went to circuit city, and they told me the stock stereo doesn't have enough power to run a new set of components, and if i turned it up, they would distort. he said i need to go coaxial. this seems like a step down to me. i like the stereo the way it is. any suggestions?

i don't want to install another amp - i was happy with it before. i'm not sure i want to replace them with the same thing, because apperantly they cannot handle the power. would some lower end components work (r/f fanatic or blau)? why will a coaxial work and not components? thanks for any help.

Without install another amp, another option would be for you to replace your head unit, then you will have the needed power to push the other components that you mentioned.
