Has anyone actually attempted to put a stereo into one of these? I'm just curious because a salesman at the dealership next door wants me to help him do one up for him. Anyone got websites or anything that i can check out?

One of my buddies has a decent little sounds system in his cart, I'll see if I can get him to e-mail me some pics of it, its nothing huge, has some 6.5 components on the front dash, and one single 10 in the back with a small amp rack.  Had his box and amp rack rhino lined.  Its pretty cool, doesn't sound spectacular, but its looks very cool!

If you happen to watch MTV Cribs, try to watch the Shaquille Oneal episode...  The guy has some pretty nice sound in his golf cart

Just be careful how powerful you make it, the entire thing is electric so there's no charging system like a regular vehicle. If you have something too big you'll drain your batteries nice and quick and will have to push it home in silence. If its not a 12v system (wouldn't know if it is or not) then you'll have to use regulators to make it 12v. If it is 12v, then there shouldn't be any technical reason for it not to work. Just make some speaker boxes for the front & rear speakers and screw em in place.

You might need to add a (or serveral)12 volt battery or regulators. Most electric golf carts are 48 volt. If it's a gas powered cart, that means it's got a turning motor. If you're really handy with fabrication, there may some way that you can add a 12volt alternator. Then just connect the alternator to the battery and there ya go. As long at the alternator puts at least 12 volts..you're in business.

i work at a golf coures and me and my friend put a basic system in it a sony deck and a set of 5 1/4 coaxials where the cubby holes were in the dash. the cart was a gas powered cart though so we have never had any charging problems, but it also has no sub and amp.

put marine speakers in it. a. becuz they are waterproof and b. becuz they drop, for 6.5's. they old pioneer m165 are good. also pioneer just came out with 8" 2 ways. 4 would be more than enough. almost every name brand has a line of marine speaks.

yes i too have worked as a cart boy, (fun job) but they electric carts are 48v and i wouldn't reccomend hooking much up to it in the way of electronics unless you want to add a dedicated battery, the carts die quick enough as is... as for the gas carts you already have a charging system for the buzzers and the lights that some have.

seems like a fun install to me..maybe fab. some enclosures for 6x9's where the roof conencts to the supports. can move the cup holders for a head unit and fab. some kick panels to put under the compartments as to keep them usable...

id like to see a finished project of a golf cart if somebody had one!

i agree with the suggestion of marine speakers just because golf cars are exposed to the elements and aren't usually the cleanest vehicles you see daily..i guess there is a difference if you are using the cart for a system... like if the cart will become only a fair weather vehicle or sorts then you would have more choice in the speakers you used and how crazy you got with the system..addind batteries and extra chargers and such.

the easiest way to do this, whether it's gas or electric, is to add an external battery or two, depending on the amount of equipment you plan on using.  that way all of your audio equipment is running off of the batteries and not the carts engine power.  all you have to do is charge the batteries before you plan on using them and they will hold a charge for a good while.  just think of it as a huge ice chest radio.  me and a friend of mine are getting ready to bag our cart on some 17" motegi racing rims, it's gonna be bad!!!!!  but we have a pair of 10's, a 6 1/2 component set, 2 amps, a head unit, PS2, and tv and were doing 4 batteries.
