mono amp and 2 4-ohm DVC subs

Watch out - another newbie on board . . .

I am learning more about car audio - unfortunately I'm learning these things AFTER buying equipment.  This is what I have sitting is my living room:

Alpine MRP-M350 700 W mono amp (350W RMS @ 2-ohm)

2 Audiobahn 8" 4-ohm DVC subs (200W RMS)

Now that I understand how the DVC works, it looks like this isn't a very good setup.  So I need to sell something and replace it with either a) a more powerful amp, which will push the subs at 4-ohm impedence (not the best option?) or b) get two 2-ohm DVC subs or two 4-ohm SVC subs (200W RMS)

What do the experts recommend?  I'm not looking to wake the neighbors or break the bank, just looking to improve SQ.

Find out if you can return either the amp or the subs in exchange for something different. If you can then we can go about recommending a proper match of equipment to the other.

A lot of people (including myself) have collected components for a system that didn't turn out to be the best match.  Don't feel bad.  But you are going the right way by asking about it here.  From what you have, sell the Audiobahns.  They may not be suitable for a SQ setup anyway.  Who knows, maybe it was Divine Intervention that made you buy them as DVC's!

While you're putting your Ebay-sell thing together, look through these posts for suggestions on SQ subs.  You'll find a bunch.

I have a convertible Z28, and I'm putting a custom-made box between the back seat and the trunk, just behind where the top fold down.  The box is made to hold two 8s.  Here is more info:

What if I just get another amp to run at a 4-ohm load?  Anyone have anything to say about Profile amps?

Choose subs to match the size of your enclosure if the enclosure cannot be built for the subs.  What's the interior cuft of your "box"?

The Alpine amp will run all day and be very happy at 4 ohms total load.  It will out-class those Audiobahns by a long shot.  Don't waste your money on anything with "Profile" written on it.

This amp is rated at 200W RMS @ 4 ohms, so that's 100W per sub.  Are you sure that is sufficient for these subs (again, 200W RMS).  I figured I needed an amp pushing around 300-350W RMS @ 4 ohm for these.

As far as the box, the paperwork says th e box volume for each sub is 0.18 cu-ft and the port area is 10 sq-in.  This is where I'm incredibly ignorant!

OK - if there are no other objections, I'll just keep it like this.

One last ignorant question - now I have to get an amp kit, and I'm trying to figure out how I actually wire the two subs into the amp speaker outputs.  Do I hook one wire into each + and  - and "T" them off to each speaker (for parallel), or connect two wires into each port?  Did that make any sense at all to anyone?

You can do it either way.  Do what looks best and the shortest wire runs.  Here is what it would look like:

The "T"s actually represent connections at terminals.  Both subs are in one box, so the wiring will end up like this both at the box terminal and at the amp.
