Hey guys, I just came across this site on my search for the wiring / manual for an Alpine CVA-1000 Monitor/Receiver.  I just picked one up for under $300, but I've got it all hooked up and nothing.  I get no picture, sound, no anything.  I know it's getting power cause the monitor comes out and goes back in fine.  There are a few wires that I didn't hook up, because I have no idea where to hook them up to.  What I did was wire the +12V together to my battery source, then wired the memory wires to the switched 12v source, and grounded everything.  Hooked up all the speaker wires also.  There are about 5 wires coming from the back of the unit that I don't know what to do with.  Also, on the speaker wire harness from the brain, there is a pink and also a blue wire that I don't know where they go.  Can anyone help me figure this out.  The guy assured me 100% working condition, and so far, 0%.

Thanks in advance!

Are you missing any harness's?  Like is there any plug openings left on the back of the head unit?  The back of the HU shouls be full or harness's to be able to function, and both the brain and HU must have 12v power.

try putting the yellow/blue wire, and connect it to ground.  This is if you have a yellow/blue.  On the cva-1003 that is your parking brake wire, the 1003 is the oldest wireing i could find.

Just list all the wire colours here and i will do my best to help you, , infact, i think i have a cva-1000 sitting at work.

I am not missing any harnesses at all.  This is what I did:

I ran the brain power supply harness back up to the back of the deck because that's where I needed to hook up the speakers, so I figured I'd run the power / ground from the same place.  So I wired both the yellow from the brain power harness and the yellow from the head units harness to my +12v source.  Then I ran the red from the brain power harness and the red from the head units harness to the switched +12v source.  Then I grounded everything.  Also, the guy who had the unit before me had a black wire and another wire (can't remember color, but it was labeled as "parking") hooked up together so I just grounded both.  I'm assuming this is the parking brake wire.

I thought that would be all I would need to power it up, but still nothing comes up on the screen.  My ampflifier does come on though (using a set of rear-outs to my sub).  I will get back on here and label all of the other wires, hopefully tonight/tomorrow.  If you could see if you have that cva-1000 at your work, and see if there's anything else I need to hook up, that'd be great.  Thanks for your help!

There should also be a reset button hidden somewhere, poke it with a pen.  Try all the little things.

Alright, I picked up the manual from Jeff at Velocity Motorsports (thanks again man!), and I have everything hooked up correctly.  A couple of questions:

1)  I don't have the "Audio Interrupt Input" (pink/black) hooked up

2)  I don't have the "Power Antenna Output" (blue) hooked up

3)  I don't have the "Dimmer" (WHITE/ blue) hooked up

4)  The "Parking Brake" (yellow/blue) is grounded with the ground

Could any of these be the culprit?

1) you don't need unless you have like a blue tooth handsfree cell phone kit, it just turns our music off.

2)  You only need that if you have a power antenna to operate it.

3) That just dimms the lights on the deck when you turn on your head lights,   not needed.

4) and just ground it, like you did.

1 other suggestion, don't use the ground wire comming out of the wireing harness for the car.  Find a nice chunk of metal that is connected to the body of the car, and ground your wires there.  Alpine's like good grounds.

I forgot to look at the cva-1000 i have at work, i was to busy today, i should be able to get to it tomorrow for you.

It is grounded to a bare metal chunk just underneath my glove compartment.  I cannot see why this damn thing won't work...and it doesn't help the seller isn't responding to emails.  Hmmm, makes you wonder huh...

you are able to get his phone # through e-bay, its part of there square trade thingy.  So try him that way.  Tell him you had it installed by an alpine dealer, and you want your money back or your going to take it up with e-bay.

I sent him one more email, and I'm gonna give him another day, then I'm gonna take it up with PayPal and eBay.  It's a good thing I bought the extra Money Back Gaurantee from PayPal for $17, so PayPal will handle this one...thanks for all of your help Alpine Guy, I appreciate it.

oh year one more thing the 1000 is old and does not have the capability of adding video unless certain things are done and you have navigation.
