I am working on a real big one here. I have 5 amps 4 of them 4 channels running 22 6x9's and the fifth amp a class D runnin the subs. This is going in a 1999 centurion sport bowrider boat. It has an upgraded 115 amp continuous alternator which is still under the amp draw I know. these amps are all kicker kx series and are brand new. I am doing 4 batterys which one is for the motor and the three are for the system which are on a perko switch. the problem that I am having is when started I get a consistant buzz not a whine and it does move up and down when accelerating. not one rca is even remotely close to any power wire I have a three wire twist for the deck . I don't want to put any filters in this unless I have to but it does not seem to be an rca issue please help.. And yes I know 22 6x9's is rediculous but he wants it.......
It's a ground issue most likely, especially in a boat since they do not have metal chassis like a car. Is the alternator grounded to the engine? Are the batteries grounded directly to the engine as well or through a ground buss? Try connecting all your amp's grounds to a distrubution blaock and run a 2 AWG ground cable directly to the engine (or to wherever the alternator is grounded.) You might also want to make sure the spark plug and coil wires on the engine are intact and properly RF shielded.

Where is the cd player grounded to and have you tried a basic ground loop isolator on the f/r preout lines yet?

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
I have the radio on a three wire twist ground at the amp 12v at the amp and the remote. and the noise is still there without the rcas pluged in

Unplug all rca cables from the amps, do a noise check again. Next start by powering up one amp at a time and do a noise check after powering up each amp. It is sounding more like an alternator or spark plug problem.

Id be guessing a problem with the iginition system ie spark plug or spark plug wire
