I have 3 dual 4ohm subs and I wanted some feedback on bridging them. I was planning on bridging each sub in series to get 8ohms and then all 3 subs in parallel to get a 2.666 ohm load. I know that i will need an amp that is stable to a 2 ohm mono output. Will subs sound better if you match exactly what the amp is stable to? I will be over 0.6666 ohms what the amp can put out, so i guess that would be better for the amp so that it will run a little cooler than an exact 2 ohm load. I think amps run hotter when you go below the minimum impedence and will probably clip and eventually burn out. IS that true? I also heard that most 2 ohm mono amps can handle a 1 ohm load but wont mention it on the specs because there is a chance that it will burn out somewhere down the road. Thanks .......
it is true that amps run hotter when you go below the rated impedance and that's because you are overworking them to the point of possibly burning up your amp. if you run an amp that is 2 ohm stable at 2.66 you just won't achieve maximum power, but you won't have to worry about frying your amp either.

what!?!?! you want some??
There arent any amps out there that I know of that are 2.666 ohms stable and not 2 ohm stable. Its kinda erralivent because the amp running at 2.66 ohms is gonna be fine. Kickerstang is right that you wont be running the amp to full potential but running it at 2.66 ohms is gonna be perfectly fine and keep the amp running kooler.

Yup, just find yourself a good amp that is stable to either 1 ohm or 2 ohm mono and gives you the output power you need to power the subs.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
arent there amps stable down to .5 ohms?.....

ya but you dont need one that is, and if the amp is stable that low than the power output at 2.6 ohms would probally be insufficant
