When building an enclosure for a downfiring sub, how is it you would come across the volume you would need. I've been told you just subtract the basket displacement from the sealed volume but i know there must be more than that. Any posts would be appreciated, thank you.

go with what u have been told you can always add timber blocks to the inside of the box to make the sound would like

it depends if the down fire means with the basket inside of the box of out side of the box. if out side you need to take into accountance the basket displacement and the cone displacement.
