I am trying to upgrade the rear soundstage in my hatchback. In the front I currently have Boston RC620's, which are the 6.5 Rally components. They are getting power from an old apline giving 35x4 rms. However, that amp will be upgraded to a RF 600a4 that gives 70x4 at 4 ohms. In the back I am installing an Eclipse aluminum 10" getting 400watts.
Right now, the back speakers in the rear shock towers are little 4" Kappa co-ax's. I am not very happy with the soundstaging inthe car right now. Since I want to get new speakers for the back, I figured I'd ask what will work best.
So the question is: what should I put in the shock towers for optimal soundstaging? Some of the older posts have recomended to not even have rear speakers if your going for SQ. so I suppose I can bridge the apline, and drive solely the Bostonst up front with more power.
Any suggestions?

Actually if you are going for SQ and worried about soundstaging, I would recomend you do NOT purchase the RF amplifier, and if you do use it, certainly do not bridge it into your comps. Get a nice clean stereo amp at 100 to 200 watts per channel for those nice Boston components. Listen to amps from Eclipse, Nakamichi, McIntosh, Zapco etc. and get the best you can afford for your front mains. Position your tweeters properly to create the front sound stage. Cross the set over at around 70Hz and your sub at the same. If you need rear fill (which you may not at all) you could certainly use your infinity's and your 35 watt amp crossed over at about 300Hz. If you want to replace the Infinity's, the Boston RX47 would match the timbre of the front set.

No, I was not going to bridge the RF. I was only suggesting bridging the Alpine for the interim period. I love the Eclipse amps. so maybe if I can find a good deal, I will pick of them up instead. I just wanted the RF so my amps can match.

For SQ, it is much more imporntant that your speakers match (sonicly, not appearance) than the amps.
