 when you have an amp thats rated for 1200 w that is connected to two subs does that mean that both subs run at 1200 w or do they split the wattage 600 & 600?

This is a post that requires more info. Always post the make and model # of the equipment in question. Most companies lie like a sidewalk about power ratings, take the numbers they mention with a grain of salt. In some cases the numbers are bang on, lets find out what you have.

if the actual output of the amp was 1200 then the two subs would split the signal.. if this is hypethecial then that anwsers your question but you actually have the equipt. you should let us know the models and information as to tell you more accurately what the subs would get. like forbidden has suggested ^^^
