I am now ready to upgrade and begin building a decent sub set-up. I am either considering the Eclipse Aluminum subs or the Infinity Perfect VQ series. I've heard the aluminum subs and they sound great, but I've always been a fan of Infinity. Can anyone offer their expertise who may have heard them both?

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
i feel the eclipse is the overall better choice. They tend to be more verstile and can be used in many sized and shaped boxes. Personally i also think the eclipse hits harder and cleaner than the infinity. However, what you need to do, is match up what you can get with your budget.
The reason that I chose these models is primarily is because of price. I have a buddy that owns his own stereo shop and can obtain almost anything I want for little over wholesale cost. I can obtain either of these for about $150/sub. The second reason is clarity. Infinity's are great spekers. I wouldn't trade the Kappa components I have. I've heard the Eclipse aluminum and they are crystal clear. Last is power. They both run around 400-500 watts RMS.
