I have a Rockford 700S Amp.

When I hooked it up it made a humming noise and didn't get any power to my subs.

What could be wrong?????

One side of the car I ran the Power  from the battery and the other side I Ran the RCAs from the out put of the deck to the input on the amp then I ran the remote wire from the deck to the remote on the amp I grounded it on the grounding bolt in the trunk.

Troubleshoot. Do this first.

Used a digital meter and check if you have 12 volts on all your wiring. Check if there is a protection light coming on your amp. Check you speaker wiring going into your sub making sure you go the right impedence and there isn't any short on the connection.

If got to that point and nothing is happening do this. Find another RCA cable and used another source of input signal to you amps. And still nothing is happening, you might have a problem with the amp. Good luck.

bad ground possibly?  which bolt did you use in the trunk?  or maybe you have a ground loop and thats where the humming is coming from.

So I brought my amp to Ultimate Audio where I bought it and the warranty.

They said that I fried my speaker terminals on the amp.

So now its on its way back to rockford and I wont see it for a month.   It sucks cause I just got my new car and want to get my system hooked up.

rockford, huh?  thats what i have right now.  1000w x 2.  not a true 1000w, but cant beat that for 120 brand new.  but anyways, when i got mine originally it did that same thing.  i was so pissed.  but when i took it to get repaired they lost it, then my wife lost the reciept.  [ homer simpson voice] doh.  but after arguing with them for an hour or two, they just gave me a brand new one.  that was 2 years ago and i havent had a single problem yet with this one.

They didn't say how I fried it, But it worked when I had it in my truck and then when I put it into my car I got nothing but a loud humming noise.
