ok, this is what i have: 2 punch 12's, kenwood 600 watt amp, and kenwood mp919 (awsome radio). it sounds great at medium volume, but as i get to the louder volume the bass tends to fade a little ( i don't mean that im maxing the radio out, but for instance it hits at 20, but if igo to 25 the bass seems to fade alittle. now the radio goes to 40 i think (never been there). does anyone have a suggestion?
thanks
what are your gains at? if theyre too high your probably clipping you sub after 20. take your stereo and turn it to about notch 30 or so, then turn the gain all the way down on the amp. then slowly turn it up until it starts to distort. turn it back down like a 1/8 of a turn and your set.
sounds like you're definately clipping. I agree with sam1 on this. turn all ur gains down and any other bass enhancement devices all down and then turn your head unit up to the maximum clean volume and then turn your gains up from there slowly up till you hear distortion and then back it off just a little

This might sound dumb, but also check to see that the loud feature is off on the deck.

I agree, it sounds like you are at the limit of your amplifier. Also if loud is on it will distort the base at a lower volume, I hate the stupid loud button. Like they said above set your gains on your amplifier so they match the the radio's highest safe volume setting. On my Kenwood, the radio starts to distort after setting 29, so I have my amplifier's gain set to play the loudest ( safest without clipping) at this level.
