I am going to be hooking up 2 15" Audiobahn subs (2000W each) and 2 Audiobahn amps (2000W). I also plan on hooking up a PS2 and a 7" screen. I will be getting an Optima yellow top. Should I also upgrade the alternator and if so, to what size? Or, should I run 2 batteries?

OK, that amp is 500 watts RMS into 4 ohms, and Audiobahn claims it can deliver 2000 watts into 1 ohm. What is the impedence of your subs? By the way, 2000 watts requires 320 amps of power, and you want to run two of these. There is no car alternator that can deliver that kind of current. At 500 watts (the realistic rating of this amp) you need about 80 amps of current per amplifier. THIS can be done with a 200 amp alternator from Ohio Generator or Stinger or many others.
NOTE that the A1500HCT amplifier has three 40-amp fuses in it. This indicates it cannot draw more power than that, which corresponds to about 750 watts.
By the way, multiple batteries is a good idea if you plan to run this system with the car not running, but it will do nothing for you when the engine is running. Caps can hel the amplifier maintain peak output, but again cannot provide power. The only thing that will provide power for a system like this is a high-output alternator.

So what are you saying, I cannot get maximum power out of these amps and subs? What alternator would you recommend for this type of project? I don't know what you mean by the impendance but here is the link for the information I got for the subs.

Sorry to jump in here, but DYohn- I think I'm missing something. Why are you dividing the watts by 6.25 volts to get 320 amps? Shouldn't it be divided by 12.6? Just curious. Not trying to second guess you or anything. I just like to learn something new every day. Thanks

Actually I was going for fuse size based on RMS power draw, which is also the alternator capacity to target for best case performance. It's not a straight Ohm's division but takes into account peak and is twice RMS. Here's a good reference chart (bottom left.)
Silverbullet_00, you state "I don't know what you mean by the impendance". If this is true, then I suggest you do not want to do this installation yourself. Get some help from a pro. Also you other thread indicates you don't understand woofer specifications, which is a plan for disaster if you want to build your own enclosures.
The sub you listed is an Audiobahn AW1508T. I assume you plan to operate one woofer from each amplifier? These things have dual 2-ohm voice coils so you can operate them at 1-ohm. And since they claim 2000 watts RMS capability, the amp you've chosen is probably a good match. This will be a PURE SPL system, by the way, since those linear compression drivers sound like, um, how can I put this nicely, loud.

DYohn, you are correct with me being a beginner on this stuff. I have 4 10" Audiobahn's with dual voice coil overs right now and did my current install myself but hooed them up the same way my buddy had done it as he was the previous owner of the system. I will be using 1 amp per sub on the new setup too and it will be used for SPL as much as possible and also on a daily basis. I am trying to learn as much about this stuff as I can that's why so many questions too lol. Thanks for your help in the meantime.
