I'm installing an Alpine 7894 head unit in a 1997 Acura 3.2TL. I took the stock one out and plugged the Alpine in and it wouldn't work. I tried the stock unit back in and it worked yesterday but not today. Neither unit works today and I think I know why. The yellow constant battery wire is reading 0 with the ignition off and 2.9 with the ignition on. The ignition twelve volt red wire is reading 0 with the ignition off and 14.5 with the ignition on. What could have caused this. Any ideas on how to get these power wires reading correct values again.
Thanks, Scott
Other than the radio, does everything else work OK? Does the car start and run, lights, wipers, lighter, etc. work OK? If so, that yellow is not your wire. Find a 12 V constant, and it can read 14.5 V with the engine running. Read the battery terminals with the car off and then with it running. Check the Alpine specs to see if 14.5 V is within the range that it will work with.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
You may also want to check your fuses. If your constant wire in the radio harness is not showing any voltage, you probably got a blown fuse somewhere. Check all the fuses both in the car and under the hood.

Duane...
If you think you're confused, imagine how you feel.

The yellow constant should read from 14 - 12 volts always. Check your fuzes. ans Sweekster said
