new to this please be gentle      i have an alpine cda-9812rb head unit  and have just bought a ford galaxy 7 seater 1998 ghia     will the head unit (with the correct conectors ) work using the original ford remote controls on the steering column or do i make  these redundant   and have to fit alpine controls ??  this may seem a simple question to many of you out there but getting any sort of wiring diagram for the galaxy is near imposible , also the car is fitting with a 6 disk cd changer as standard can this be fitted to the unit also ????

The alpine was installed in to my old mondeo kenwood 8" speakers door mounted and a Vibe CBR 10 active sub in the boot    sounded great  but extended family forced to buy the galaxy !!!

is it worth trying to use any of the original equipment  ie the cd changer   and more importantly the remote control or junk it and replace with new equipment     bareing in mind that im all spent out buying the new car !!!  thanx   oh im not the most electrically minded  when it comes to the correct langauge of electrical installations   so in laymans terms please  thanx again

Yes the unit will work in your vehicle, but you will loose your steering wheel controls and you won't be able to operate your factory changer.  PAC makes adapters which will allow you to keep your steering wheel controls and your factory changer but they are not cheap.
