Hey, I know the new Scion has an mp3 CD player come standard with it, but does anyone else know of any other cars which have mp3 players?
Here's the Scion site, it's got a bunch of other cool things as well.

Thanks!

The new Chevy Aveo does and I think the SVT Ford Focus comes with one made by Blaupunkt.

iknow these mp3 players are stock, but are they even worth it? How good can stock be?

mp3 is low-fidelity.  Stock is fine if you listen to this format.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Hey, guys, I checked up on what you said about the Mazda, Focus, F-150STX and the Aveo. None of them even mentioned mp3 players except for the Aveo, and only one of their models (The LS, the most expensive) has it standard. Anyway, sorry I mixed up the link to the scion site. Here's the real link.

I see Ford STX, and Mazda's come in everyday because the factory Kenwood MP3 players were stolen or they want to add Sirius to them.  I don't know what sites you're checking, but info is incorrect.  Mazda even has a version of the Protege called the Mazda MP3 which comes from the factory with Kenwood HU, speakers, a Kenwood amp and 10' Kenwood sub.

As far as the Mazda Speed, it's actually a 2002/2003 Protege` with some mild tuning and suspension upgrades from MazdaSpeed. They came with Kenwood (not sure of the model number) DMASK MP3 players. I think the F150 Stx came with the same one or similar. All of the cars we've mentioned were made between 2001 and 2003. Mazda has since replaced the Protege with the "3". The focus just got redone as well. And we've all seen the new F150 already. You wouldn't see the specs for the SVT focus on ford's website. It's on SVT's website. And they call the MP3 upgrade the "Audiophile Package". A $695 dollar option.

I've seen the Scions. Pioneer makes their MP3 units and Bazooka makes the bass tubes that they offer. It's an ok setup for stock. But if you're looking sound quality, mp3 or any compressed audio format isn't really the way to go.

Ah, crap, I thought this thread was going to be about the MP3 Standard, meaning the basis of this MPEG compression technique.  I was all ready to jump in with great web site links and papers written by people I know... but alas, it is only about OEM car stereos.  Oh well.

MP3's are great for the internet and sound pretty good on my iPod, but I'd NEVER listen to one on a good quality stereo system and expect anything more than bad FM radio quality.  So, OEM systems are JUST FINE for them!

Actually, they are both made by Toyota.
