Hey guys, been looking around quite a bit for an amp. I have a few in mind but before I make a purchase I wanna see what ya'll think I should take a look at. Ok heres the specs. Wanna get a amp which will put out at least 125 x 2 @ 4 ohms. Bridging the two 8 ohm svc subs would be best. Anyway I dont want to spend mroe than $150.00. Whats on your mind?

This Kenwood seems to be a pretty good deal. It comes with a bass remote and a free 4 gauge installation kit.

The Blaupunkt amp would be a good choice. This US acoustics amp would be a good choice also.

No no no and no. Stay away from all of those cheap knock off brands. Take a look at Power Acoustik's website and you will find that almost all of their products look the same (and are) as other low end brands (such as sony and kenwood). Im almost 100% sure that all of those amp's internal parts are the same or similar also. They will deliver half of less of the power they claim also. Stick with US Acoustics or Blaupunkt for a cheap but good amp.

So negatory on all those amps eh... your thinking I should hit up blaupunkt or Us Acoustiks... how bout Jensen, I know back in the day they made some decent stuff, now a days Im not sure, I have heard they have some cheezy stuff now.

Jensen equipment = good for use as a doorstop, or maybe a paperweight.  Customsuburb gave you the best answer to your questions.

It's usually not a good sign when you can buy car audio equipment in target. I actaully feel bad for Jensen.

Unfortunately of late Jensen is like the girl in high school that everyone slept with... the "name" Jensen has been bought and sold so many times in the last 5-10 years that noone knows who or what it is any more......

the latest incantation is being made by Audiovox.... and who among us who pony up much to purchase an Audiovox amplifier???

Ok, hahah at least we have a consensus. What im concerned about is the baul;punkt amps. You know those ones that are made out of plastic. The class T amps... anyone heard ANYTHING about em??

no experience with them but i've installed a few of their PCA series of amps and they seem well built... Blau always made a pretty fair product

I've heard those amps. That actually sound ok. It's nothing like the higher end amps such as eclipse or JL or even MTX but they aren't bad at all.

As a former Blaupunkt factrory rep I am biased, but I have always loved their equipment.  Great bang for the buck, and they are on the high side of "mid-level" components (meaning they are better than some other mid-level brands like Pioneer, but not quite up to the high-end like Eclipse.)  IMO you can't go wrong buying from the good old Germans.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Yes, unfortunately.  Of course anyone who knows enough or cares enough to look beneath the vaguely Teutonic logos and strange pseudo-Bavarian product names can see right through that kind of hype...
