Hi,
I am installing a set of 5.25" and 6.5" Alpine speakers. I spent most of the day running arround looking for spacers. I have a 95 Geo Prism LSI. I finally found a set for the 6.5" speakers but no one has the 5.25" X 1" available.
I was thinking of useing hard rubber bushings, instead of the Metra spacer. I was wondering if anyone had done this, or could forsee any problems with this method?
I prefer not to have to buy a sheet of MDF and go through makeing spacers if the bushings would work. I would appreciate any feedback/advice.

grab anything you can cut into a circle, , corner of your desk, many layers of cardboard.

yea you dont have to buy something made for it, just get creative. i sometimes use masonite board, its cheap and easy to cut.

Thanks for the advice. I found some old MDF. I am going to cut it into spacers. I noticed that the OEM, plastic pannel adapter was angled up, I could accomplish this pretty easily with my router. Do you think angling the speakers up is worth it or doesn't it really matter, I can rotate the tweeter up 15 deg anyway.

You should the speaker upwards if it is low in the door panel. This will improve your imaging.

Sorry about the late reply, but I have been working 24/7.

I made the spacers out of MDF, but I ran out of room on the door pannel. I have decided to make my own kick pannel mounts, out of glass. I am used to using epoxy resin, but I was looking at the Vinyl Ester Resin or Polyester Resin. Can anyone tell me if the Vinyl Ester Resin needs wax to surface coat, or does it behave more like a epoxy resin?
