I bet a friend of mine $50 that he would blow his subs by the end of the summer. He has tow 12"s he bought a pep boys, they are called ocrons or something. He claims they are 700W, but who knows what they really are. He has a 600W xplode amp hooked up to them. So how long until his "professional" (his words, not mind) system blows up? In other words, come summers end will i be $50 richer.

They can probobly handle 300 watts max (on a good day) and maybe 100 watts at most RMS. I bet that sony amp is putting out about the right amount of rms power for those though because its an overrated amp. So if he has his gains set correctly they might last..... for a month. I bet those subs have cardboard surrounds and paper cones with a wopping 1 oz magnet. posted_image

I saw those subs a few weeks before my friend got the and made a comment about what sort of idiot would buy them. He has told people they are Orions, most kids at my school dont know jack about car audio, but when i challenged him on it he back down and admited they where from pep boys. Im also pretty sure he doesnt know what gain is.

If you get his to put the gain to max and put it in a over side box and run it hard all the time. then you have a for sure change of winning. not a bad way to make $50...cheating a friend out.lol

Its not so much about money, its about proving that he is wrong and a idiot. Plus im not to happy with him at the moment b/c he ripped off another friend of mine on a amp, but thats another story...
