My new 4 channel Kicker is just now experiencing engine noise. It didn't do it when it was first installed a month ago and it is getting louder. This is also true of the thumping noise that happens when the vehicle is shut off, it's getting louder. Does anyone know why this might be happening or what the best fix is?

Was the amp gain turned up since it was installed?

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Actually I did turn it up a tad bit. How can I suppress it or should I just try turning it down. Right now the gain is only up btween a 1/4 and 1/3 of the way up which I thought was rather low or am I wrong?

Any Ideas on the best way to get rid of the noise or thumps?

Reset the gain carefully by ear.  There are a lot of threads on here that explain it if you're not sure, and to be honest I don't believe you know for sure.  Otherwise you wouldn't have edged up that gain a tad bit.

Ok, I turned the gain down and I did lower the noise noticably, I think I can live with it. Just curiously, is there a way to eliminate it completely?

Go through all the ground wires in the vehicle, try moving the ground wire on the amp.
