I just bought an Xterra and I'm looking to put one 10" sub in the back. I'd like to use as little space as possible. Any suggestions?

I've seen the JL Stealth Box, and I'm looking for something similar. The 10" I get will require .5 cuft, or less.
I'm thinking of taking out the 6x9 on the driver side and mounting a custom MDF/Fiberglass box there. (It's just behind the rear wheel well)
If I do that, does anyone have experience adding speakers to the back doors?
I've seen a few good custom jobs on Cardomain.com.

I would like to do something much easier though.

Thanks.

This guy has a an idea like you suggested. To fiberglass an enclosure for a sub on either the lefr ot right side where the storage pocket and 6x9s were and on the opposite side of that put your amp(s). Then use the rear doors for speakers like you suggested also. You could build the enclosure for the sub and then see if you really wanted rear fill because usually a system will sound fine without it (unless you carry passengers in back often and they want to hear the music also).

Your idea about using the storage pocket and 6x9 enclosure sounds like the best thing to do. You could tiberglass your sub box in back and listen to your system without rear fill and see if you need it before you make enclosures in the rear doors. I would only fiberglass speaker enclosures into the door if you carry passengers often or you reallly like rear fill.

if you have that storage compartment on the side like i do in my pathfinder, then you could easily fiberglass a hidden 10" sub.
