I'm new here, and I'm sure you've seen plenty of these posts.
However, I don't have the time needed to research this, as I'm not a car audio fanatic, and I don't have time to be one.
I have a budget of about 400 dollars.
I want a loud system. One of the ones that you can hear down the street bumping it's way along.
I was originally looking at 2 x15's, but now I've heard 2x 12's could do the trick.
I need a box, amp, cables, and subs for my Pioneer head unit (with sub outputs) for around 400 dollars, and I need this to be loud. I guess I'm not looking for top of the line, just stuff that sounds good enough in the car, will last me awhile, will allow me to build on it, and is something you can hear from a ways away.
I'm currently looking at 2x JL X
with a profile c400 amplifier.
Thank you, I plan on making a decision midnight on Tuesday

sorry, but i can't figure out how to edit posts.
the amps i'm looking at for the above mentioned subs are also the CA600 or the CL600
However, i'm by no means limited to these configurations.

With the limited amount of time you admitted you are willing to put in to making some kind of informed choice.............the easiest way you can get something "loud" is to just take your $400 to the nearest big box store and tell them the first things you said in your original post.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
Since you are looking at a small budget the profile amp will give you some good sound depending on what type of subs you are running and the box they will be in. I would suggest a bandpass or ported box for what ever subs you get. This will maximize the output of the amp but will require a box built to spec.
Ok you have a good choice for your subs, but I would put them in a custom built ported box built to spec and get a different amp. Try
This Hifonics Warrior Falcon or this
Blaupunkt PA2100m. Both of these amps are going to over power those subs so WATCH out for distortion. I know you probobly want to crank the gain right away but do yourself (and your subs and amp) a favor amp set the gain properly and dont turn your cd player up past distortion.
What does everyone else think of those 12" subs with one of those amps...which amp?
and is that that best buy for the money that I can get?

Id go this route:
https://cgi.ebay.com/dll?ViewItem&category=18797&item=5700787175&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
https://cgi.ebay.com/dll?ViewItem&category=18803&item=5701527370&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW But go with the SWR-1222D, you will be able to wire them to get the full potential of the amp.
Thats exactly $400 right there. or you can go the $440 route, and get a stupid loud system with these>> https://cgi.ebay.com/dll?ViewItem&category=18803&item=5700315031&rd=1
