i have some new alpine component speakers and have fitted the woofers in the trunk. i am about to fit the tweeters in the trunk aswell. is there anyway of me connecting them to the crossover without using an amp?

The components should have come with a passive crossover designed for them.  The speakers should be connected to this crossover and then the signal from your head unit or external amplifier connected to the crossover.  Is this what you mean?
