Infinity Basslink quality

Anyone heard, tested or owns an Infinity Basslink? I would like to hear some reviews/advice on anyone who knows about this sub. I currently have an Alpine 12" sub in original sub-box by ALpine but since the space used is so much, I am sidegrading (up or downgrading??) to this Infinity Basslink since I heard a few good words about its quality and small space usage. Hows's SQ and SPL? I am more interested in SQ. Any info would be appreciated. I might buy it tomorrow from Crutchfield if it is a good idea.

I would only buy the basslink if you feel the Type R sub has way too much volume for your tastes. Otherwise the Alpine Type R sub in the proper sealed box should have better SQ probobly. Here is a review of the Basslink.

Thanks for the link on reviews. I think I will stay with my Type R and MRD500. Probably I need to tune/adjust the MRD500's gain + bypass filters and put back my sealed box in my trunk. Is there a good place on the internet or a cd that can be used to do the adjustments? My bass is too boomy and loud. I need to tune such that I put more preference on quality than quality. I heard of BassMechanik. Is there anything better?

Can you burn CD's?  I have used this Frequency Generator to make a CD of test tones.  It made setting crossover points and reading voltage really nice and easy.  I used the sine wave setting, made .wav files, then used the standard Roxio Easy CD Creator program to burn the disk.

I can burn CDs, DVDs and even my house! just kidding about the house. I had downloaded the trial of Freauency Generator a while before, so when I tried it last night, it says sorry you must register and not just re-install and that my trial is over. I should have made my CDs when I installed it first. Now I have to pay 49$ for the software, or reinstall Windows! Maybe I can install it on another computer and do my CDs before the evaluation period runs out this time.

Yeah, I had removed the program, and just for the heluvit I just now re-installed it.  It knew my number and wouldn't open.  I know I have to manually remove references from the registry, but I can't do that.  I would make a mess of this machine for sure!  Do it on your friend's computer, it is well worth it.

Mark, I've installed a couple Basslink systems and they actually sound pretty good.  Above average SQ and surprising SPL for the size.  Not as good as your Alpine 12, most likely, but certainly a good compromise for the space savings.  I most recently put one in a '96 Neon and it was very nice sounding.

stevdard, you're absolutely right about removing references from the registry to fix that re-install problem for a second trial. I used to do such things before but now they are getting smarter and smarter. They hide their "counters" into very cryptic strings such as {AB832659C9F903DRE365} which is impossible for us to get on a search since we cannot know what strings/names they have hidden their keys as and at. However I know a way you can re-install without a problem. Before you install a trial version, you can keep an image of the registry and file structure and later, compare that to the new one and find the differences. I do that sometimes but did not do that for frequency generator!

DYohn, thanks for the info on the Basslink's. I am still in 2 minds. If I can get my ALpine Type R 12" working right, I want to keep it. I now have my Type R in the original horizontal ported box by Alpine which is huge. Occupies quite some space in my Toyota Highlander. I also have a "square" sealed box that was built for Infinity's 12" sub that I bought at Circuit city. They only had that one piece on the demo room shelf, so I asked them to remove their infinity sub and give me just the box. I think I am going to use that sealed one instead and stay with ALpines. Also I am thinking of building one myself to be "best" but don't know how to build one yet from scratch.
