I have two 10" neons that I have installed down by my feet. They came with cigaette lighter plugs and I have tried to install them without having to use them. They didn't work.. does anyone know how to pull apart the adapter and to take whats needed from it, so I can get my neons to work? ( I was trying to get them hooked up to the parking lights 12volt source ).

On some neon light the adapter is require because the neon light runs on AC rather that DC.   I assume that is what you have. There is a simple solution to this. Join the wire back to adapter. As dark_knight said there are two wires coming into the back of the cigarette lighter, the one in the centre is the +12 and the one going to the outside part of the lighter is the negative. Find your power supply on the parking light and connect them to it and you neon will light up now.

well before you go cutting up neons, you need to know if your tube has a voltage reducer. some neons, mostly the smaller ones, have a voltage reducer in the cigarette plug area. so if you cut it and try to hard wire it, it wont work
