I belive a amplifier has be incorrectly fitted to my car causing damage to the electrics. When i start it up it over revs at 1500 rpm when before it was at 800rpm and it mite just be me but it doesnt feel as responsive as it was before. I was wondering if anyone knows what is damaged and what would need to be done to fix it as all the mechanincs/electritions i have been to have drawn a blank.:( Thanx Rick

OK, I take it you are saying this only happens when the amplifier is turned on? Have you tried pulling the fuse and see if the problem goes away? Or are you saying this happened after the amp was installed so you think it is related to the amp? ------------- Support the12volt.com

The amp was fitted to the car and now has been removed. The problem started when the amp was fitted so i belive that has caused the problem as i dont belive the battery ground was dissconected when it was fitted. The car has had its idle speed control valve and the throttle system replaced and it has been re-tuned but it still over reves but only when its is started up.  Very puzzling

Uh, sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Try disconnecting your remote turn on lead from your amp, this is the only thing that would be connected to the wiring of the vehicle. What kind of car? Are there any check engine lights?

In freekin possible. The only way i can see there being any prob with the install is that maybe like auex said is that maybe a vaccume line was knocked off while they were pokeing around near the battery, , or they accidentaly sliced one with a knife or something. You may net be able to see a cut in a vaccume line unless you take it off and bend it around and stuff.

Agreed. What you are describing has nothing to do with your audio system, especially if you say the amp has now been removed. Coincidence. Or like everyone else is saying, colateral damage unrelated to the audio system itself, but maybe related to installer activity.... ------------- Support the12volt.com
